Description:Parents and children at a Victory in Japan Day street party at The Ring. The photograph was taken outside no.8, the home of George and Diana Shaw (the piano on the left belonged to them).

On the back row, left to right, are: George Shaw, Lily Johnson, Mrs Gibson, Diana Shaw, ?, ?, Mrs Adams, ?, ?, ?. On the front are: Angus Perry, ?, John Shaw, Diana Shaw, ?, Ruth Perry, Pam Gibson, ?, ?.

The Japanese surrendered on 2 September 1945, after atomic bombs were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
