Description:Female factory workers at the English Electric Co. factory on Lichfield Road celebrate victory at the end of World War Two.

The company had changed to war work on the outbreak of war, as they had done earlier in the century. Note the decorations and the tin hats hanging on the wall.

English Electric was formerly Siemens Bros., who manufactured generators, electric motors and various other electrical appliances. In 1918 Siemen's merged with several companies, including Dick, Kerr and Co., to become the English Electric Co.
