Description:This photograph shows an early Reliant van in the centre, and a Bond-Mini sports car. James Smith can be seen on the left of the photograph, the owner of the garage at the time, with his daughter Miss Evelyn Smith sitting in the car.

The garage on Wardle Street was built by Charles Smith senior and then owned by Mr James Smith, his son. For a short time, after the death of Mr James Smith senior in the 1950's, the garage was leased by Mr Elliot and known as Moat House Motors. It the reverted to the Smith family with James Smith junior as the owner, and being known as the Red Rose, as it was in 2004.
