Description:The procession was part of the Sunday School festival which took place every year on the first Friday in August. The event is now held on the second Saturday in July. A mixture of adults and children from all the Sunday Schools in town took part in the walk through the town with some playing instruments in one of the bands, or carrying banners. The day's events had been an important feature of life in the town since the early 1800s, and crowds came out to watch the procession and activities.
