Description:The house was designed by Messrs. Sugden for Mr B. Nixon in 1878. Mr Nixon was one of the partners involved in a mill management team from 1869-1891 which comprised himself, Mr Joshua Brough, his son Arthur, W.S. Brough, Edwin Brough and John Hall. During the latter years of the partnership several of the men retired (Nixon in 1891), which led to the formation of Brough, Nicholson and Hall.
