Description:The mill was owned by Thomas Whittles Ltd., a family firm which traded from the premises for over a century, between the late 1860s until the 1970s. The company was the last firm in Leek involved in the production of silk. Since the company vacated the building the old mill site has been redeveloped and is now covered by apartments. The 1920s dyehouse at the rear of the main building has been demolished, and a row of bungalows has been built on that area and the adjacent mill yard.
