Description:This cross is one of two quite different examples in the churchyard of St. Edward the Confessor. The original church was built early in the eleventh century, while the cross is thought to date from around 1040-50. It is a long, round cross-shaft, with a horizontal band of interlace above. The upper section is cut into four faces, decorated with scrolls, interlace and fretwork. Behind the cross stands the vicarage.
