Description:Fred Adams Snr. bought a small diary farm on Buxton Road in 1870, and his son Fred began making butter there in 1922. The business was ground-breaking, being the first in the country to produce pre-packed butter. Originally the firm was called Adams Dairies, which then became Adams Butter Ltd., and finally Adams Food Ltd. By 1975 the successful family firm had become the country's largest butter selling organisation. The Irish Dairy Board Co-operative bought out Adams' in 1978, and in 1989 this firm was taken over by Kerrygold a subsiduary of the Irish Dairy Board who soon after based its U.K. headquarters in Leek.
This was the first mobile show trailer owned by the firm. From left to right are: Lynton Goldstraw, Basil Blore, and Jack Chester.
