Description:Thomas Parker was born at No.2 Church Street, Leek on 23rd July 1666. He was a lawyer by profession and went on to take leading government positions becoming Lord Chief Justice, Lord Chancellor. and 1st Earl of Macclesfield. He founded the Leek Grammar School in 1723, but only two years later he was impeached for fraud. His fine of £30,000, was an enormous amount of money in those days. He retired into private life and died in 1732.
