Description:Exterior view of the Constitutional Club in High Street, built by the post office in 1877 and was employed in that respect until 1905 when the amount of mail became too great to handle at this site, the post office was then moved to New Street. The building was vacant for only two days as the then Lord Burton and Mr Ratcliff Snr & Jnr Bought it to create a gentleman’s club, this took 5 years to renovate within with Oak panelling throughout and ‘indoor restrooms’ for members. A reading room on the ground floor, Snooker tables and Card rooms on the first floor and living quarters for the steward and his family on the second.

In 2012 the club now houses the snooker tables and a dining area on the ground floor and the two other floors are rented out to a dance academy with individual teaching rooms.
