Description:Young Brownies of Barlaston are pictured with prizes they won in a scrapbook competition, presented to them on the evening of Friday 24 February, by Miss P Wells, Bladon Divisional Commissioner, (seen standing behind) at the annual Thinking Day ceremony observed by the Stone Division Girl Guides, in the Congregational Schoolroom. The 1st, 3rd and 4th Stone, Oulton, Walton, Barlaston, Eccleshall, Cotes Heath and Yarnfield companies were represented at the annual Thinking Day ceremony. The evening began with the 1st Oulton, who explained the formation and meaning of the world flag. Presentations were made to the 1st Barlaston, 4th Stone, 1st Walton and 1st Yarnfield Brownie packs for the best scrap books, after which the evening was devoted to the two guest speakers.

Mrs J Barlee, who had been in Nigeria for 18 months on Guide training, showed some fine coloured slides of Guiding in that country and gave a most interesting talk on her experiences there. Mrs M M Heath, (a Miss Adie before her marriage) a former Stone Guide and Ranger, gave an interesting account of her experiences as Guide Commissioner in Malaya. She also showed some interesting native dresses for the display of which three Guides acted as models.

The speakers were thanked by Mrs Goodwin, while Miss P Wells, Bladen Divisional Commissioner presented the prizes and presided over the evening.
