Description:The Theatre Royal was built between 1787 and 1788. In 1910 the theatre became Newcastle's first electric cinema, originally known as the Newcastle Cinema Theatre. The medallion of Shakespeare can be seen here on its gable end.

The building was demolished in the 1960s and was replaced by an office block.
