Date:1854

Description:A lithograph of Burslem Town Hall on Market Place, Burslem. Opened in 1854 and designed by George Thomas Robinson, this building replaced the first Town Hall and was built on the same site. The building was a public library for much of the 20th century. Between 2003 and 2011 it was the home of the Ceramica visitor centre. Since 2015 it has been used as Haywood Academy's Sixth Form College.

Absent in this print, today on top of the Town Hall is the Angel of Victory sculpture, installed just three years after the building was opened. The sculpture, of the Greek Goddess Nike with a laurel wreath, was designed by George Thomas Robinson and sculpted by Samuel Peploe Wood. It was restored in 2002.
