Description:An oil painting of King Street, by Henry Lark Pratt. The view is looking down towards the centre of the town and the tower of St. Giles' Church can just be made out with a flag flying from the top of it. This painting records the close relationship between the town and countryside at this time, a shepherd being pictured with his sheep moving down the street. The Congregational Church is pictured on the left hand side of the street. The church which stands today was built in 1859 and replaced an early church on the same site. The present church was built in the Gothic style with yellow and blue brick.
