Description:This large early 19th century Georgian farm house was demolished shortly after this photograph was taken in 1963. The farm stood to the south side of what is now the junction of Baswich Lane and Sandringham Road.
It was owned by the Grindley family early 19th century. In 1854 William Grindley married Ellen (nee Bennett), the widow of local farmer and builder George Tavernor. Their younger child was William Harry (Wally) Grindley, a Stoke-on-Trent pottery proprietor. William Grindley died in 1877 and the farm was bought by William Stubbs in 1884. It was occupied by the Irish catholic Mullee family from at least 1913 to 1925 and then by the Edwards family between 1925 and 1956. It was sold and demolished prior to building a new housing estate.
