Description:Members of the Youth Club sample some of their home-brewed ginger beer which they sold at Brocton village bazaar on Saturday 7 December in the afternoon. Pictured are, from left to right: Bert Oakland, Johnny Hill, Olive Boyd and Jimmy Cooper.

Brocton Village Institute funds were aided by £17 as a result of the bazaar. All the village organisations had stalls, which were laden with attractive goods and wrappings. The attendance was restricted to Brocton residents, although there were some visitors from the neighbouring villages of Walton and Milford.

There was a pottery display of items suitable for Christmas presents and the Youth Club, who manned many of the stalls, sold a popular homebrew ginger beer at 4d a glass. In charge of the stalls were: Pottery, Mr R H Latter; Cakes and Pastries, the Women’s Institute; Woodwork, Mr B Lees; the competitions were organised by Brocton Cricket Club; Roll a Penny, by Brocton Dramatic Society; and the Christmas Store, Mr H S Boult. The Christmas presents, homebrew ginger beer, lucky dip and choose-your-record were organised by the Youth Club and refreshments by the Village Institute committee.
