Description:Pictured is a scene from ‘The Man of Destiny’ produced by the Avon Players. The players left to right are: Donald Bradley, Frank Lloyd (who played Napoleon), Celia Leigh and Stanley Orrillard. Production was by Frank Lloyd assisted by Mary Wood.

The Avon Players paid tribute to the memory of George Bernard Shaw with a festival of three of his shorter plays: ‘Over-Ruled’, ‘Press Cuttings’ and ‘The Man of Destiny’ which opened at the King Edward VI School Hall on Tuesday 4 November and ran for the rest of the week. The three plays were introduced by Eric Copeland who dressed like George Bernard Shaw.

The players in ‘Over-Ruled’ were Harry Sloman, Harold Price, Barbara Briggs, and Ann Sheen. Production was by Harry Sloman assisted by Catherine Leckie. In ‘Press cuttings’ the players were John Goldsmith, George Strachan, Gordon Fradley, Gertrude Dunmore, Margaret Yorke, and Maureen Acton. Production was by John Goldsmith assisted by Beryl Oldacre.
