Description:These students are intent on their work at a silversmithing class held at the County School of Art, Stafford. The instructor Mr E Leech is pictured offering advice on the making of a silver cream jug to a woman student, whilst two other students shape copper bowls. Please contact us if you recognise anyone else in the photograph.

The Stafford Newsletter reported that the evening classes were held on three nights a week at the County School of Art, with nearly 50 men and women who mould their own jewellery, bowls, jugs, spoons and other silver and copper ware. Mr Leech informed the Newsletter that some of the more advanced students had their own Assay mark and items that they made were sent to the Birmingham Assay Office for stamping. The work bearing these marks made the amateur silversmiths justly proud and they knew their work was of a high standard.
