Description:Officials and visitors are pictured at the the annual dinner of the Berkswich branch of the British Legion held at the Swan Hotel in Stafford. Seated left to right: the Deputy Mayor, Alderman L Dobson, Group Captain T E H Grove (President, South Staffordshire County Committee), Mr D A McCaddon (Branch Vice-chairman), the Mayor, Alderman C E Fowke, Colonel G W R Hearn (Branch President), Major G Waugh (Branch Chairman), Mr P Pearce (Chairman, South Staffordshire County) and the man on the right is unknown. Please contact us if you recognise anyone else in the photograph.

Among branch officials present were Mr W H Nickolls and Mr C A Woodger (Vice-Presidents), Mr E Smalley (Hon. Secretary), Mr P V Shaw (Hon. Assistant Secretary), Mr W Hully (Chairman of number 6 Group of the Legion), Mr J Parker and Mr H E Coates of the Entertainments Committee and representatives of the Stafford, Rugeley and Haughton branches. Entertainment was provided by Mr D Oliver (songs), Mr W Hazell (pianist) and Mr L Denny (conjurer). During the evening it was mentioned that Berkswich branch had won the Holt cup, an annual competition which was awarded to the most efficient branch in the South Staffordshire County area of the Legion.
