Description:More than 100 employees of Stafford Corporation attended their annual dinner held at the Civic Restaurant in Stafford, where the Deputy Mayor, Alderman L Dobson, expressed seasonal greetings and presented long service certificates to 15 employees who had completed more than 25 years’ service with the Corporation.

The President of the Stafford Corporation Social Club, Mr T H Higson, Borough Engineer, presided at the fifth annual dinner for Corporation employees from all departments. The long service certificates said “In recognition of faithful service during the past 25 years and as a mark of appreciation and goodwill”. Each certificate was signed by the Mayor, Alderman C E Fowke, the Chairman of the Public Health Committee, Alderman C H Merrey, the Town Clerk, Mr T Broughton Nowell and the Borough Engineer Mr T H Higson.

Those who received certificates were: Mr H Gregory, Borough Hall staff; Miss D Jackson and Miss E P Jones of the Public Library; Mr E Furber, Mr G A Atkins, Mr H Sargeant, Mr W J Walthorn, Mr G E Picking, Mr C F Middleton, Mr W Hill and Mr Stacey of the Engineer’s Department; Mr T Martin of the Town Clerks Office; Mr F C G Webb of the Borough Treasurers Department; Mr J H Matthews the Markets Superintendent; Mr A E Bennett the Borough Cemetery Superintendent and Mr H Pearce of the Water Works, Milford. Mr Webb joined the Corporation in 1908 and Mr Stacey in 1912. After the dinner and the presentations, a concert party provided entertainment.
