Description:Mrs W Mayger is pictured adjusting the hymn board in the newly built south aisle extension to Brocton Church.

The Bishop of Stafford, the Rt. Reverend L D Hammond dedicated the £1,000 extensions to Brocton Church on the evening of Friday 17 June. The extensions included the building of a south aisle, a new vestry and a new entrance. In addition the Bishop dedicated four new pews in the church to the memory of George William Buttery; Matthew and Annie Darlington and their sons and daughters; Joseph Groucott and George Leigh.

A fund had been launched for the extension work and at the time of this article £850 had been raised by direct giving. The Vicar the Rev. W Merlin Davies told the Newsletter that he hoped the remainder would be raised in the same way. Proceeds from the collection at the dedication service went to the building fund.
