Date:20th of June 1912

Description:Schoolchildren taking part in Maypole dancing during a garden fete held at Barlaston Hall in order to raise funds for a new Parish Room for the village. Mrs H.J. Broughton-Adderley of Barlaston Hall was the host.

The children were from Barlaston C of E School and were directed by their headmistress Miss Rachel Greatorex. She may be the woman standing with her back to the camera next to the piano. Born 14 September 1876, she was schoolmistress at Barlaston School from 1907 until her retirement in 1938. She died in 1956.
