Description:Mrs Cavendish of Crakemarsh Hall speaking at an event during Uttoxeter's celebrations for the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. Julia Florence Cavendish, nee Siegel (1886-1963) was born in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of a wealthy businessman. She married Tyrell William Cavendish, son of the Cavendish family of Crakemarsh Hall on 26 December 1906. At the time of the 1911 census they were living at Little Onn Hall in Staffordshire. Tyrell and Julia Cavendish were both passengers on R.M.S. Titanic during its ill-fated voyage in 1912. Tyrell died in the sinking, but Julia survived and later moved into Crakemarsh Hall on the death of her mother-in-law in 1932. She remained there for the rest of her life. In the background is a Taylor's Public Address van. Taylor's Public Address Service was based at Kingsley, near Cheadle. Jim Taylor was an RAF Sergeant in Signals in the Cheadle area during the 2nd World War. After the war he started his Public Address Service in Kingsley and travelled all over the country working at County Shows, gymkanas, fairs and other public events. He continued with the business well into his eighties. Photographer: Geald McCann, photographers of High Street, Uttoxeter.
