Description:Taylor Tunnicliff and Co. Ltd. were founded at Eastwood, Hanley in 1867 and eventually specialised in the manufacture of ceramic insulators. In 1920 the company began building a new factory on the former racecourse site off Whitebridge Lane, Stone to manufacture telegraph insulators and high tension insulators. The factory opened in 1922 and expanded in 1929 and again in the early 1950s. By 1975 the company had become Allied Insulators and the Stone factory closed by 1985. The factory site became Whitebridge Industrial Estate.
