Description:A postcard view looking south-east from Crown Bridge along Market Street in Penkridge.

The shop on the right is Luton House which at the time of this picture was occupied by Mrs G F Bates and her millinery and fancy drapers shop. Mrs Bates also published postcards with various views of Penkridge and the surrounding area. On the left of Luton House is the Horse and Jockey public house with its large advertising sign at roof level. In later years Luton House was occupied by R E Hudson’s shop and currently (March 2021) it is known as Tia, a gift shop.

This postcard was published by Mrs G F Bates, Luton House, Penkridge. It was franked in Penkridge on 17 July 1925 and sent to an address in Whittington near Lichfield.
