Description:Evening dress in yellow and beige brocade silk. Hand sewn. Bodice has front opening, no fastening. Front forms V with two rows of cotton lace along edge. Two pleats either side of opening which extend across shoulder. Elbow length sleeves. Double ruff with two scalloped edges. Row of ruching above this and muslin ruffle below. Two round brocade covered weights in each sleeve. Four pleats in back with centre back seam. Pleats extend down to hem. Bodice back curved. Skirt cross ply pleated to bodice at back. Front bodice is loose, skirt has side openings. Skirt of 7 pieces. Inside bodice has two long bones. Lined with white linen, lining only attached at back. Sleeves and skirt lined in yellow silk. Belonged to Mary Landor (1777-1860), daughter of John Landor, Rector of Colton. She was a spinster and spent the latter part of her life living at 6 Church Street, Rugeley. She inherited it from her grandmother, Mary Landor (nee Noble), wife of Robert Landor of Rugeley.
