Description:This postcard view shows the Grade II listed Pillaton Old Hall which was rebuilt in brick by the Littleton family in the late 15th century, on the moated site of an earlier hall. Only the gatehouse range now remains, the rest having been largely demolished, except for chimney stacks, in the second half of the 18th century. The gatehouse range was restored by Lord Hatherton between 1884 and 1888, and again in 1976.

On the left of the gatehouse there is a glimpse of the stone-built Chapel dedicated to St Modwena which was built around 1480. The Chapel was restored in the 19th century and remains (January 2021) in ecclesiastical use.

This postcard was published by A.L. Pearson and it was printed in Saxony.
