Description:This postcard view shows Bow Street looking from the Market Square in Rugeley.

On the left there is a glimpse of the Cabin public house which later became the Vaults, adjacent is Paris House and Evan’s children’s wear shop, next-door is J Marston’s shop and further along there are several signs on the side of a building advertising The Postcard shop, The Rugeley Mercury and The Wool shop, on the right is Marriott’s groceries and provisions shop. Several of the buildings in this scene remain (December 2020) although over the years their ground floors have changed several times. In later years this area became pedestrianised.

This postcard view was published by the Frith’s Series.
