Description:This postcard view shows Hamstall Hall which dates from the early 17th century. It was built not long after Sir Thomas Leigh bought the estate from the Fitzherbert family in 1601. Large scale rebuilding took place in the 1780s and in 1821. The Leighs sold the estate in 1920. Lt. Col. Sir Ian Walker Bart. DSO sold it in 1946. It then stood derelict and was further damaged by fire in 1964.

Adjacent to the Hall there is a courtyard of former farm buildings. In the 1980s they were converted into an Arts Centre with Craft Galleries and a restaurant. In later years they were all changed into private houses. On the right is St. Michael's and All Angels' Church, which has a Norman nave with a Perpendicular north aisle and clerestory. The tower, spire, chancel and north chapel date from the 14th century.

This postcard was published by Pascoe & Son, Brook Square, Rugeley. It was franked on 4 August 1908 in Rugeley and sent to an address in Manitoba, Canada.
