Description:View of the Parish Church's eight church bells ready for re-hanging. The bells were taken down in 1905 after repairs to the bell tower found that the oak frame supporting them was in need of repair. Following a large appeal enough money was raised to fund a new iron frame. The man on the right of the picture is William Cope, town crier and leader of the bell ringers. Mr Cope was a wood-turner by trade and re-used the old oak wood to make an attractive armchair. His son Albert carved the back of the chair. Following William's death, the chair was presented to the parish church in 1922.
