Description:Gardens viewed from the College, with a white robed Dominican Friar standing in front of the water feature. Two stone urns mark the entrance to flower beds. These features and the landscape were present in Josiah Spode's time. Also present were a rock garden and fernery accessed by a tunnel, a dripping-well; two walled gardens, stove and green houses, plant house; lean-tos for peaches and vines, and a roofed fernery. The 1894 auction particulars also state that "a Head Gardener, with five Under gardeners are quite sufficient to keep the whole of the ground, gardens, and glasshouses in the best of order"
