Description:One of the bottle ovens at Hudson and Middleton's Sutherland Works, Longton, photographed on the roof of the works.

Hudson and Middleton operated from the Sutherland Works on Normacot Road from 1941 with the wartime amalgamation of works belonging to the Hudson and the Middleton families. These works had previously been operated by William Hudson from 1889, producing fine quality bone china mugs and tea sets. The company was one of the last remaining potteries manufacturing all of their fine bone china mugs in England. The company closed in the summer of 2016.
