Description:RAF Wheaton Aston was constructed at Little Onn from October 1940 as a relief landing ground for RAF Hixon but instead became a satellite airfield of RAF High Ercall, Shropshire. It was a training base and RAF pilots that trained here generally used Airspeed Oxford aircraft. The base ceased to be used in 1947.

From 1947 to 1965, the former airbase buildings were used to house Polish immigrants. Since then the site has been used for pig farming and other agricultural purposes.
