Description:A postcard view of the Market Square in Lichfield on Market Day. Percy Fitzgeralds's 1908 statue of James Boswell, biographer of Samuel Johnson, overlooks a scene largely unchanged today except for the vehicles.

In the background is St Mary’s Church. In later years the building became Lichfield Heritage Centre. The centre closed in 2017 and was converted to house Lichfield’s main public library, tourist information centre and an arts space which opened in 2018.

This postcard picture was taken by Bradford based photographer Walter Scott.
