Description:A postcard view of a busy scene on the High Street, Cheadle. On the left is the Wheatsheaf Hotel with its large ornate wrought-iron inn sign, which is one of several to be seen in Cheadle.

Also on the left and just behind the group of people there is glimpse of the Market Cross with a decorative lantern on top. The Market Cross stands on the High Street at the junction with Cross Street. It consists of an octagonal sandstone shaft on steps and probably dates from the 17th century.

On the extreme right is a part view of an arch which in later years became the entrance to the Market Hall. Many of the buildings in this view remain (June 2020) although their ground floors have changed over the years.
