Description:On the left of this view is Ivy Cottage which was home to Mr and Mrs Albert Hine, second left is Church Cottage which was home to the Breeze family. These two cottages were also known locally as Spite Cottages. In the background is a glimpse of St. Chad's Church.
St. Chad's Church dates from the Norman period, although the west tower was rebuilt in local brick in the seventeenth century after the original tower collapsed. Inside the church can be found a church warden's chest, dated 1610, a Jacobean pulpit, and the alabaster tomb of William Bowyer (died 1593). The south window contains fifteenth century stained glass.
