Description:Showroom at Jones, Moss & Co. (late T. Edwards & Sons) furniture works and showrooms, Ironmarket, Newcastle-under-Lyme, established 1797. The business supplied or made a wide range of furnishings, including bedroom suites, cabinets, bureaus, sideboards, dining tables, settees, easy chairs, bedsteads, mattresses, bedding, carpets and rugs. The company had been named Jones, Moss & Co. since 1906 upon the retirement of Samuel Edwards, J.P.

Founded in Fogg Lane by Thomas Edwards in 1797, after two years it moved to the opposite side of Ironmarket to the premises formerly built and occupied by Spode. Samuel Edwards had been the sole proprietor since 1891, employing over 100 persons in cabinet making, upholstery and decorating; they were also auctioneers. Samuel had business connections throughout the country. In 1906 the business was taken over as Jones, Moss & Co by employees of 30 or 40 years standing. The company was still advertising into the 1950s.
