Description:Arthur William Collyer was born in Bridgetown, Cannock. On leaving school he followed his father's trade as an auger maker, but by the 1911 census he is listed as a Colliery Clerk. He went on to run this plant nursery from the left hand building and the field at its rear. In the 1939 Register he is listed as living at 59 Church Street as a Seedsman, nurseryman and florist, as is his son Sydney. Another son, lived at no. 65 and was a Nursery seedsman, assisting his father.

Number 65 was extended and is now (2020) a doctors surgery. The gap between them which leads from the premises to the plant nursery is now Coniston Way.
