Date:1904

Description:A postcard view of Dove Bridge near Uttoxeter. The River Dove marks the county boundary between Staffordshire and Derbyshire; this view was taken from the Staffordshire bank. Two of its arches (pointed) are 14th century, while two round arches are later, possibly dating from 1691.

A new bridge was built to carry the A50 over the River Dove when the road was rebuilt in 1970. The old bridge, which dates from the 14th century, no longer carries road traffic and is now a footpath.

This Wrench Series postcard was printed in Saxony. It was franked in Uttoxeter on 30 May 1904 and sent to an address in Eastwood, Nottinghamshire.
