Description:Meaford Power Station, situated on the River Trent, was first commissioned in 1948 and was a coal-fired power station. Both the Meaford A (1948) and Meaford B (commissioned 1955) stations can be seen, distinguished by the five 250ft cooling towers. The larger B station was decommissioned in late 1990 and was demolished between 1991 and 1996. The smaller A station had been decommissioned in 1974 and demolished in 1982. The site has now been adapted as a business park, though a new Meaford Energy Centre is to begin construction in the near future.
