Description:Rudyard Lake is a reservoir and was constructed in 1797 by engineer John Rennie to feed the Caldon Branch of the Trent & Mersey Canal. It is around 2.5 miles long and covers roughly an area of 168 acres. Throughout the 19th century, and up to the present day, the lake was used for numerous leisure activities, including boating, fishing and walking. This photograph was taken towards the dam end of the lake.
