Description:'Tackeroo' is the name of an area close to Hednesford where it joined the London & North Western Railway (Cannock Mineral Branch); the military railway inherited this name. This section of the railway was put in place first with Brocton Camp linked slightly later. This image appears to be a publicity shot as there is a lady and child in the first locomotive dressed for the occasion. It was a standard gauge but light railway and therefore all supplies delivered had to be hauled up to the Camps to each of the Ordnance Depots by small saddle tank locomotives. The rolling stock was on loan from the local collieries as were most of the steam engines. Due to the gradient and curvature of the railway only four trucks were attached to each locomotive which is why a second locomotive can be seen in this photograph. It is very difficult to locate where the photograph was taken but as it may have been taken on the occasion of celebrations on linking the two Camps together it could be at Brocton by the Power Station.
