Description:Action from the Midlands versus South hockey match, a trial for selection for the England international side. Over 2,000 spectators attended the match which ended in a 1-1 draw and was held at Bourneville in Birmingham. The Birmingham Gazette reported that "at outside right W.H. Twigg was in great form, being speedy and brilliant in dribbling and centring."

Walter Hanbury Twigg was born at Weeping Cross on 6 May 1883. He was educated at Repton School and at Kings College, University of London and trained as an electrical engineer. He died in Stafford on 5 February 1963. A talented sportsman, he represented Stafford and Staffordshire at cricket and hockey, and was an England hockey international, playing for his country on 8 occasions in 1909 and 1910.
