Description:View of the calvary-style war memorial commemorating the fallen of both world wars from Armitage. A service marking the centenary of the 1918 Armistice had recently been held, hence the large number of remembrance poppy wreaths and crosses. It had recently been moved from its original site on the corner of nearby Boathouse Lane and Rugeley Road on a plot donated by Hiram Moorcroft. The new site on the corner of New Road and Shropshire Brook Road was provided by Armitage Shanks. The memorial was designed and manufactured by Bridgeman's of Lichfield and funded by public subscription. It was unveiled by Brigadier-General Stewart C.M.G, D.S.O. in February 1920.
