Description:Based on written evidence, this reconstruction shows an inscription created by German PoWs held at Brocton Camp on Cannock Chase in the later stages of World War I. Made out of painted stones, the inscription was set up on the ground near the prisoners' huts. The inscription featured the motto 'Gott Mit Uns' (God is with Us) and is thought to have resembled the buckle design found on German military belts of the time. No trace remains of the pattern today. This reconstruction is the work of Ben E Cunliffe.
