Description:Postcard view of of the Wheel public house on Wolverhampton Road, Codsall.

Thomas Bentley in 1849 owned a house, garden and croft measuring over an acre of land. Thomas was a wheelwright so when he was granted a licence by 1896 it was appropriate that he should call the inn the "Wheel". Outside over the entrance he hung a wheel as his sign. The annexe on the side was his workshop. The Wheel was demolished in 2005 and houses were built on the site.

Information on the back of the postcard says One of the old type, recently modernised and extended. A real “call house”, with its broad sweep of “open space” for the accommodation of motor and other vehicles. Its hanging baskets of beautiful flowers, and its well kept appearance, stamp it immediately as a house for comfort and service.
