Description:A school of science was founded in 1872 and by 1879 had moved to the Burton Institute in Union Street. By 1931 it was known as the Technical Institute. In 1948 it became Burton technical College following the combination of the Thechnical institute with the Junior Technical school. In 1955 it moved to the new buildings in Abbey Street. It was renamed Burton College in 1998 and is now (2019) Burton and South Derbyshire College.
