Description:An aerial photograph of a hill-fort situated on the edge of Cannock Chase at Cannock Wood which is a scheduled monument. It includes the earthwork and buried remains of an Iron Age hill-fort and the ruins and buried remains of a small medieval building identified as part of a hunting lodge. Castle Ring occupies the summit of a small hill which forms the highest point on Cannock Chase.

The banks arevnow flat topped, thought to be adapted as a late 18th or early 19th century walkway. The tracks running across are thought to be carriage rides introduced by the Pagets of nearby Beaudesert Hall around the same time.
