Description:'Landor House' was built by one Erasmus Darwin, merchant, in 1649. Robert Landor made alterations in 1733 which included a new frontage. It was sold in 1808 by Robert's grandson, the poet Walter Savage Landor. During the next seventy years it had various owners and tenants.
At some time before 1829 it was divided into two, the left portion being used as a printing office. By 1892 this was a branch of The National and Provincial Bank, later amalgamated with other banks to become the National Westminster Bank. The right hand portion on the corner of Albion Street has been various shops. The NatWest Bank is scheduled to close this branch's doors in September 2017.
