Date:October 1963

Description:Paddock Street ran northwards off Hope Street at Vale Place. The street no longer exists, but was sandwiched between the present day Boundary Street and Penarth Grove. At the bottom is Bryan Street.

The alley in the photograph was probably that between Boundary Street and Paddock Street, both sets of houses though have been demolished. The houses date from the last decade of the 19th century. The "sheds" at the bottom of the yards would have been outside toilets.

The car parked in the alley is a 1950s Renault 4CV with a small 750cc air cooled engine, three speed gear box and a top speed of around 60mph.
